This section presents the GeoViewer navigation tools that allow you to change the current view of the map by zooming, panning or quickly jumping to specific locations.
This section describes the zoom and pan tools provided by the GeoViewer. Note that these tools remain selected until you choose another one.
Three zooming tools are available through the use of two icons:
The
tool allow you to zoom in by either
one point (a single click) or two points (by drawing a box).
The
tool allow you to zoom out by
one point (a single click).

You can also use the SetScale widget to change the current scale, which is also a kind
of zooming tool. Please click on the |
Panning can be achieved by using either:
One of the four triangles located at each side of the map, for instance
.
Pressing one of these icons shifts the current view of 50% of the map size in the given direction.
The
icon allows you to recenter the view
on a point indicated by a single click onto the map.
The IONIC GeoViewer offers several tools to quickly jump (changing the view) to given locations indicated by their coordinates, name, ...
The
icon allows you to enter
an XY coordinates pair (in the current SRS) that will act as the new view center.
The GeoViewer comes with a list of predefined locations (named geographic boxes) that allow
you to quickly change the current view to a given area of interest. Clicking the
icon brings up a dialog
in which you can choose a location.
Please contact your system administrator to learn how to add new locations to the list.

Using the Gazetteer widget is another way to quickly center the map view on a
given location. You call the Gazetteer by clicking on this icon:

popup window is then displayed:
The Gazetteer widget is divided in three area:
The first one consists of a text field where you can enter your search criteria together with a button.
The second one is a small regular map widget with both the zoom and pan tools described above. This area graphically presents the search results as yellow squares on the map.
The third area presents the search results as a three-columns list. You can view the location of each place by hovering names with the mouse. Clicking on a name centers the GeoViewer map on the chosen location.
This is the quickest way to view an entire layer content. You call this widget by clicking on:
. The popup presents all the
layers and allows you to choose one or many layers to extend to, as shown below:
When executed on a single layer, the current map envelope is adapted to the chosen layer envelope. If you choose several layers, then the resulting envelope is the smallest envelope that surrounds every layer envelopes.
